I have now, for the first time, completed a sketchbook!!! 🎉

It is such a joy to flip through it and see the #proofofwork of my daily sketches over the past 2.5 months.

I thought about stopping here. Because the end of a book is closure. Because it would be nice not to feel obligated to do one every day. Because there are other art things I want to focus on.

I thought about continuing to a new 4” x 4” sketchbook. Because Mom has more flowers I want to draw and know the names of. Because I love looking back at the accumulated drawings. Because I thought of a theme for July’s drawings.

Valid reasons on both sides.

Going to keep going for now. 👍

This Archie…. and the sketch I considered abandoning.

But I finished it because this is a sketchbook to be full of drawings and attempts and “mistakes” that aren’t mistakes and stuff I like and stuff I feel I could have done better and stuff I love for how they look and ones I don’t like the look of but feel the time it took to create and remembering again to stop looking at the reference and only look at the drawing and make it something I want it to be because if I wanted an exact copy of the reference I would have taken a photo instead of making the effort to draw my own art.

Went to Michael’s arts & crafts supply store for the first time in a long time. Bit disappointed - one of my favorite areas, which used to be 2 aisles worth, is now down to half of one. 😔 Did get the spray fixative to finally finish my glitter paper snowflakes, and 3 sketchbooks, so I’m all set for a mostly daily drawing practice in 2024. 😁
