Got an email that I earned $0.52 USD royalties on the sale of one of my microfiction collections last month. It will be added to my total balance of $4.86, and once that amount reaches $10, they will give me my money.

1. Thank you to whoever bought my writing. I assume it was someone here because these collections are a few years old and this is the only social media space I actively participate in.

Walked inside today so I didn’t have to worry about my environment because I wanted to focus on developing the microfiction story I’m submitting for the next zap.cooking newsletter. 🧠📝

For last month’s story, I found a recipe first, and crafted the story to match.

This time, I have a story and found a recipe to match. Said story is off to a beta reader right now. 👍

I have 2 ebooks for sale at various online stores through draft2digital. They are collections of my microfiction stories: one with illustrations, one without.

My royalties for September are $0.52 USD. Not bad considering I don’t promote them and they’re several years old. But that 52 cents is loosing value.

At today’s BTC price, that’s about 827 sats. And those sats gain value.

This is why I’m so excited about Nostr as a way for artists of all kinds to be able to connect directly with those who appreciate the creative work. People who are willing to toss a few sats in appreciation.

As Gigi said, “People want to support the stuff they love, and they're willing to pay for it. Not all people, but ~4% of them. And that is enough.”

I’ve focused on art since joining Nostr, because a picture is worth a thousand words: someone decides almost instantly whether or not they like what they see, whether they zap in that moment or not.

Those thousand words (or in the case of my microfiction, 300 words) take time read, maybe even think about, in the midst of scrolling through all those other short notes and photos and visual art.

I think stories are a harder sell, regardless of the means of payment. But it’s something I want to explore next year with Nostr.

Another step in the on-going Nostrfication of my life … my Npub.pro website is in my profile and I added that URL to my IG profile:

After going all out on tag nav, I scaled it back to art and links to the #nostrichnovember art challenge and my designs on Threadless.

Once I start posting my writings (microfiction and novel chapters), I’ll add those to the nav.

If you don’t have an npub.pro website, definitely check it out. Great way to share you Nostr stuff (and intro the decentralized own your content concept) with anyone who’s not ready to leap into a client. 💜👍
