Last year I ran #nostrichnovember as an art challenge, just to try it. Had some fun art show up from more than 1 person - which was really exciting because I had no idea if anyone would participate.

Thinking longer term, I’m want to have monthly art challenges so there’s always something available if someone wants to play along… which means a better name than Nostrich November.

Thus NostrArtstr was created.

I’ll still post my art stuff here on Rustypuppy.

Monthly, art challenge specific stuff is going through NostrArtstr.

And quoted here on Rustypuppy because that’s how you help grow a new Nostr account, right?

Sharing Past Art…

One of the mixed media 1920s French Fashion nostriches I created for last year’s Nostrich November art challenge.

I drew the nostrich based on a vintage fashion catalog. Printed and colored her with Copic markers. Then added her to an 8” x 10” art board, with a background of collage and acrylic paint, with Art Deco patterns.

The text is a French translation of the copy on the Nostrich November website, printed on tissue paper.

I’ll be updating the website next month with details about this year’s art challenge.

After going all out on tag nav, I scaled it back to art and links to the #nostrichnovember art challenge and my designs on Threadless.

Once I start posting my writings (microfiction and novel chapters), I’ll add those to the nav.

If you don’t have an npub.pro website, definitely check it out. Great way to share you Nostr stuff (and intro the decentralized own your content concept) with anyone who’s not ready to leap into a client. 💜👍

Didn’t realize it was #zapathon time, but since it is, here’s some original nostrich art! :) Mary knows she overthinks, but thinking of not overthinking is more stressful than all of her imaginary conversations that could happen but somehow rarely do. She believes details are important, and cleaning is cathartic. Also, this is her angry face, which is remarkably similar to her indifferent face.

Some days just do go how I want them to. Much less of a headache today, but uber-sensitive to motion - as in scrolling through nostr made me nauseous. So I’m, yet again, reducing the scope of my #nostrichnovember project to something I can handle now, to share with you guys on November 1st.

Writing this up as an example that getting a little bit of what you planned to do out into the world is better than not sharing it at all because it’s not what you wanted it to be.

For anyone who wants to participate in the art challenge that is https://nostrichnovember.com know that it’s okay to change your mind about what you do. It’s okay to do less than you planned, just as it’s okay to do what you planned and push to do a bit more.

My goal in creating this event was to bring more art to nostr, specifically in November because I liked the alliteration.

Not specifically 30 days of art, or 15, or even once a week.

Just more than there has been.

I hope you join me, in whatever way you want. I’d love to see what you create.
