Speaking of bullet journals … here’s my 2023. One notebook per month. These are from Archer & Olive. Three don’t have covers because they were made of vegan leather that felt horrible to me, so I tore them off because the rest of the notebook was fine.
Now I know to check for a linen cover. 👍

At the end of the year, for the past three years, I’ve laid out all the art I’ve created and taken a photo. It’s a helpful reminder that “I made this” because I forget and end up feeling like I wasted time, time which is getting more precious the less I have of it.

The mixed media pieces were fewer in 2023 as my focus was drawing. The nostriches were an unexpected surprise that really helped me get more comfortable using Procreate. And the multiple sketchbooks (including one I can’t find), reflect the multiple “projects” I start and don’t finish. 🫤

But that’s not going to stop me from starting projects in 2024. 🙂

For 2024, I’m going to…

For 2024, I’m going to change from my current daily bujo (bullet journal) to a sketch journal. More drawing and less of a planned structure so I can use a single page or multiple pages for a day (current process is to plan out a 2 page spread for every day and prep the whole bujo before the beginning of the month).

Towards that goal, this is my current read: Draw Your Day by Samathe Dion Baker.

I’ve kept a mostly daily bullet journal for the past 2 years. Not strictly by the book “bullet journal” but taking some parts of that system and adapting it to what I needed - Table of Contents, Monthly To Do List, some of the marks to indicate the state of a task, though I added color. I want to keep some of that structure to make sure I do things that need to get done, but I’m excited about incorporating more drawing into my day.

And the best way to add a new habit is to incorporate or hook it onto an existing habit.
