Starting green swatches… though not sure what part of Prussian Green is, well, green. 🤷

Went ahead and swatched the turquoise because it was there, then ended this page with some nice greeny greens. 💚

Had extra paint come out of the tubes when I mixed them, so played on various papers … all are 300 g/sm2 cold press ….

1. Artist Loft - Michael’s brand, Level 2 (3 is Pro), I just don’t like the look of it., will likely use the rest of this pad as a base layer for mixed media projects.

2. Fabriano - 25% cotton, higher end than #1, it works

3. Arches - 100% cotton, this is the Good/Expensive Stuff, I like it the best because of how the colors seem to stay a bit more vibrant and the look of the texture of the paper.

Photo#2: cut her reflection away from her body.

Photo#3: traced around the reflection to have the same shape but with a curtain pattern …. Was thinking something along the lines of “wallflower” or “window dressing” as the theme

Photo#4: didn’t like how it looked at all, but still wanted to use that shape.

Photo#1: used a bookcase image for the reflection shape and added little statue head.

6/61 - Decor. Took a few process photos for this one ….

1) final 3” x 5” (index card) magazine collage

2) using a craft knife is too hard on my hands, so I very carefully cut out the window panes, making sure some part of what I want to keep is still attached somewhere

3) Original flowers in vase … sticks out too much to the left to fit the 3” width of the index card so ….

4) I get rid of part of the flowers. Really liked the brickwork, but it was horizontal, and I needed a vertical piece to fit behind the flower vase so …

5) I flip one piece of the brickwork 180 degrees, cut along a line of mortar, and match the bricks to create the background I need.

6) Glue stick time! Start with the door frames.

7) Once everything is glued to the index card, flip over and trim the edges.

8) See #1 for final art 😄

ARTIST THOUGHTS 3/3: This is the little guy that really started it.

Looking at the character designs and personalities, I tended toward Toast. Flipping through my fabric stash, however, brought out this fabric and it immediately identified as End Piece to me. I was even able to cut it so the horizontal beige line became his brow.

One googly eye was standard and easy. For the oval lazy eye, I had to peel away the backing without destroying the front curved plastic (attempt #1 failed on that point), then add Gorilla glue to the correct place on the inside of the peeled backing to fix the pupil in place (attempt #2 was successful on that point).

Because the eyes make the piece of Bread.
