You asked for a fact. I was an intern at https://fossilrim.org and, along with a veterinarian intern and 2 others, lived on site. The vet grad student was working with Amber (the cheetah) to get her used to people so she could be used in education outreach programs. Amber stayed with the vet in her room but came out to the main area in the evenings. I had a cheetah for a house mate.
